The Briscoe Western Art Museum announced the fifth annual Dolph & Janey Briscoe Legacy Award Luncheon on October 19, 2022. The Legacy Award Luncheon is an opportunity to honor very special and deserving members of the Briscoe Museum family. Established to celebrate the philanthropic spirit of the late Texas Governor Dolph Briscoe, Jr. and his wife Janey, the museum recognizes generous contributions, advocacy, and volunteerism. We are pleased to honor a San Antonio couple whose commitment to philanthropy has significantly impacted the Briscoe Western Art Museum, our community, and South Texas.
The Honorable Judge Nelson and Tracy Wolff
The Honorable Nelson and Tracy Wolff, San Antonio’s “dynamic duo,” continue to make their mark in Texas.
Over the last fifty years, Nelson’s thoughtful leadership has likely touched millions of Bexar county residents’ lives through his public service in the Texas Senate, the Texas House of Representatives, the City Council, and as San Antonio’s Mayor and now Bexar County Judge. Through his experience in public service, Nelson has authored six books.
Tracy has served as a tireless advocate for children, lending her voice and action to develop Texas’ “first of its kind” Children’s Court. She founded the Hidalgo Foundation to raise private support to preserve and restore the Bexar County Courthouse. She has been the moving force behind the development of San Antonio’s BiblioTech. Her focus remains on the underserved children of Bexar County—whether it be in education, legal representation, or health care.
The Wolff’s impact on San Antonio’s growth and tourism industry has proven remarkable. Thanks to their unwavering support, the Briscoe, Mission Reach, and River Walk improvements came to fruition. Tracy and Nelson’s understanding of the importance of bringing the Briscoe Western Art Museum to life in the heart of downtown, and their continued support and patronage, have helped the Briscoe become one of the premier Western art museums in the world. Both Tracy and Nelson are dedicated public servants who have made our community and state stronger.
