“A Fistful of Dollars” is a 1964 Spaghetti Western directed by Sergio Leone and starring Clint Eastwood in his first leading role. The film follows a wandering gunfighter who plays two rival families against each other in a town torn apart by greed, pride, and revenge.
This movie is considered the first Spaghetti Western! Most Spaghetti Westerns were made on a low budget. “A Fistful of Dollars” had about a $200,000 budget, and Clint Eastwood was paid $15,000 for his first leading role. Filmed silent to be dubbed in Italian, Clint Eastwood did not add his voice to the film until 1967 before it’s U.S. release.
